Step back in time in America’s oldest city, Boston. Our journey begins just like those who arrived on the famous Mayflower in 1620. We’ll traverse across New England picking up tales of the pilgrim fathers and visiting key areas that shaped American history. We’ll wander charming coastal towns, devour seafood chowder, and feel the cooling air of the sprawling White Mountains, before crossing into Canada. Here distinguished Québec City, charming Montréal, Ottawa and vibrant Toronto are on the list, with Niagara Falls as the grand finale.

Day 1 -Boston

Our door-to-door travel service collects you from home for your flight to Boston.

Day 2 – Boston

A guided tour takes us to Boston’s historic sites and important neighbourhoods. Explore Back Bay, Copley Square and Beacon Hill; and travel along the Freedom Trail to discover the monuments that shaped the American Revolution, including the rebellious Boston Tea Party which roused the colonies into action. We also see the house of Paul Revere, who alerted the start of the Revolution in 1775; and visit the Old North Church where lanterns were lit on Revere’s signal, igniting the Revolution. The afternoon is free to explore further.

Day 3 – Plymouth

This morning we depart for Plymouth, America’s hometown. We’ll visit Plimoth Patuxet Museums, home to a 17th-century English village, a historic Patuxet Homesite and a craft centre to explore. Interpreters in full period costumes bring the history of the Plymouth Colony and the Indigenous homeland to life. This afternoon, we visit the Mayflower II, a full scale, recently restored replica of the tall ship that brought the Pilgrims to Plymouth in 1620. Later this afternoon we’ll check-in at our hotel in Plymouth, for a two-night stay.

Day 4 – Cape Cod

This morning, we’ll make our way along the Cape Cod National Seashore, stopping in the quaint town of Chatham, where you’ll find lots of family-owned shops, restaurants, and the Chatham Lighthouse. We then continue to Provincetown, where the Pilgrims first landed at the very tip of Cape Cod and explore its many shops and art galleries.

Day 5 – Ogunquit – Portland – Bethel

Depart Plymouth for the Maine coast, where we stop in the town of Ogunquit with time to walk the Marginal Way – a mile-long, paved path from Ogunquit to Perkins Cove – home to seafood restaurants, lobster shacks and quaint shops. We then continue to the historic seacoast town of Portland for time to explore, before heading inland to Bethel.

Day 6 – White Mountains

Today we wind through the spectacular White Mountains. We stop at Cannon Mountain to take the Cannon Mountain Aerial Tramway for incredible views of the surrounding scenery, or the Conway Scenic Railroad, where we’ll embark on the Conway Valley Train – an authentic 19th-century railroading experience through New Hampshire&s scenic Mount Washington Valley. We’ll continue to North Conway, home to nearly 100 stores, fine art galleries and factory outlets. We then return to our hotel via the Kancamagus Highway, regarded as one of the most scenic byways in New England.

Day 7 – Québec City

An early start today as we head across the Canadian border to Québec City, where we’ll stay for two nights.

Day 8 – Québec City

We enjoy a morning tour of Québec City, where the perfectly preserved, fortified Old Town offers plenty to see. Admire the English and French-style houses, soaring church spires, the beautiful Place Royale, and the luxury Château Frontenac. The afternoon is free to explore at your own pace.

Day 9 – Montréal – Ottawa

We head to Montréal for a sightseeing tour including Old Montréal and Mount Royal Park, the city’s highest point with fantastic views. Starting as a mission colony of just 50 settlers, it has grown into a prominent city with three million citizens and a multitude of cultures; however, the French roots and British influences still shine through as you explore this fascinating metropolis. This afternoon we depart for Ottawa the vibrant capital, home to some of the world’s most impressive parliament buildings.

Day 10 – Ottawa – Toronto

This morning we enjoy a short orientation tour of Ottawa. Later, we travel along the 1,000 Islands Parkway, following the shores of Lake Ontario, to the city of Toronto.

Day 11 – Toronto – Niagara Falls – Toronto

This morning we enjoy a short tour of Toronto. The city has a fine mix of museums and architecture that shows some of the many cultures that have shaped it – with more than 140 languages spoken by a population of about 2.8 million people, it has grown quickly in the last 225 years and is considered one of the world’s most liveable urban places. This afternoon, we get to feel the spray of the mighty Niagara Falls – the second largest waterfall in the world. We’ll hear its roar as we Journey Behind the Falls and get a unique view of them.
