Sailing between the uninhabited islands of the Kornati archipelago and to the lesser-known parts of north Croatia. Exploring Krka National Park – a UNESCO-listed area of waterfalls, shimmering lakes and nature trails.

When it comes to beautiful landscapes, crystal-clear waters, and natural wonders, this small ship cruise along the Croatian coast has it all. We’ll stay aboard MV Dalmatia and begin our journey from the 19th-century coastal town of Opatija, all the way down to the historic city of Split on the Dalmatian coast. Along the way, we’ll soak in breathtaking scenery, including the lesser-known Kvarner islands and the tumbling cascades of the Krka waterfalls. We’ll discover ancient towns, medieval architecture, and uncover their rich history.

Day 1 – Zagreb – Opatija – Krk

Our door-to-door travel service collects you from home for your flight to Zagreb. On arrival we’ll transfer to the Opatija Riviera where we’ll board our ship and sail to the island of Krk.

Day 2 – Krk – Rab

This morning we’ll sail to the island of Rab. On arrival we’ll enjoy a guided walking tour of the greenest and best known of the Kvarner Islands. Rab fits the archetypal Adriatic paradise perfectly – jade green waters, verdant hillsides and a red-roofed old town that looks straight out of a story book. Dominated by four bell towers, Rab’s ancient walled town bears the beauty of its changing hands over the years – with Byzantine churches, elegant Italianate mansions, and Romanesque towers to explore. There’ll be time afterwards to wander independently or soak up views of the city’s crumbling Venetian charms from the ship.

Day 3 – Rab – Zadar

Leaving Rab, we’ll sail towards the coastal city of Zadar. On our guided tour we’ll learn about the city’s rich past as we weave our way through the streets of the old town. We&ll stop to admire the Morska vrata (Sea Gate), the Romanesque-style St Chrysogonus Church and baroque St Simeon Church, as well as the famous Sea organ, which creates music using the motion of the waves.

Day 4 – Zadar – Kornati – Vodice

Our cruise takes us through the Kornati Islands – an archipelago of over 140 uninhabited desert-like islets, peppered with caves and grottos and wrapped in otherworldly blue waters. Weather permitting, we’ll enjoy a swim stop in one of the quiet bays before continuing to Vodice, a popular seaside town, where we have time to explore before dinner tonight.

Day 5 – Vodice – Krka National Park – Primošten

Today’s destination is picturesque Primošten, but first we’ll sail up the Krka River – weaving our way beneath steep limestone cliffs and craggy bays to the pretty town of Skradin. Skradin is full of charm – with red-roofed houses, a harbour lined with bobbing sail boats and a backdrop of forested hills. Here, we take a small boat ride followed by guided walk to view the famous Krka waterfalls – a beautiful landscape of seven waterfalls and emerald-green lakes. Carved into the limestone karsts over millennia by the rushing waters, the area is considered a natural phenomenon and has UNESCO status. We’ll return to the ship for lunch, followed by a leisurely afternoon sailing towards Primošten.

Day 6 – Primošten – Trogir

We’ll depart this morning for Trogir. Linked by bridges to the mainland, this beautiful city’s wide seafront promenade of classic Venetian facades hides a maze-like old town of medieval streets dotted with churches and Renaissance buildings. This afternoon, head out on a guided tour of the UNESCO-listed old town past Romanesque-style cathedrals, Venetian palaces and Benedictine monasteries, before returning to the ship.

Day 7 – Trogir – Split

This morning, we&ll head to our final destination of the tour – Split. There&ll be some free time to wander Split’s waterfront or stroll to one of the city’s squares before our afternoon guided walking tour. Croatia’s second-largest city, first started out as the retirement palace for the Roman emperor Diocletian in AD 295. UNESCO-listed Diocletian’s Palace still stands at the heart of the old town and houses some of the best-preserved Roman ruins in the world. Over the centuries, the city expanded into a maze of narrow medieval streets and Gothic archways scattered with Roman ruins.
